Cervical Cancer Screening
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers in women. Regular screening and timely HPV vaccination can detect changes early and significantly reduce the risk of developing cervical cancer.
At Parth Maternity Centre, we provide evidence-based cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination services with complete privacy and compassionate care.
Why Cervical Cancer Screening Is Important
Cervical cancer often develops slowly and without early symptoms. Screening helps identify pre-cancerous changes before they become serious.
Benefits of regular screening:
- Early detection of abnormal cervical cells
- Prevention of cervical cancer
- Simple, quick, and painless procedure
- Improved long-term women’s health outcomes
Screening Tests Offered
- Pap smear test
- HPV DNA testing (when indicated)
Screening is recommended for women who are sexually active, even if there are no symptoms.
When Should Screening Be Done?
- Starting from 21 years of age
- Every 3 years with Pap smear (as advised)
- More frequent screening if there are abnormal results or risk factors
Your screening schedule is individualised based on age, medical history, and previous reports.
HPV Vaccination
HPV (Human Papillomavirus) infection is the most common cause of cervical cancer.
Vaccination offers strong protection against high-risk HPV types.
HPV vaccine is recommended for:
- Girls and boys 9–14 years (best before sexual activity)
- Women up to 45 years (after medical consultation)
Benefits of HPV vaccination:
- Prevents cervical cancer
- Reduces risk of genital warts
- Safe, effective, and well-tolerated
Vaccination does not eliminate the need for screening but works together with regular tests for maximum protection.
Who Should Consult a Gynaecologist?
- Women who have never had a Pap smear
- Irregular bleeding or post-coital bleeding
- Persistent vaginal discharge
